About TideFall
TideFall stakes its entire design on a single mechanic: the tide is a timer that never stops. Water climbs in real time across each stage, air depletes, and the drowned rise with it. This is not a countdown you pause or manage in a menu—it is a visible, relentless physical pressure that shapes every decision and forces constant forward movement. The release date for TideFall is July 16, 2026 on PC.
The core loop sits between extraction roguelikes and survival action. You descend into one of five drowned biomes—shallows, kelp reef, sunken town, black trench, and a cathedral—mine resources, fight enemies, and reach the lighthouse. At the beacon you face a genuine choice: extract safely with what you have earned, or burn lamp oil to hold the light and summon waves of enemies for higher-tier salvage. Hold long enough and you keep everything. Fail and you lose the run but retain a persistent crafting economy that rewards failure with progression toward forged weapons: a harpoon, grapple hook, deepsilver gaff blade, blast charges.
A Lantern Against the Dark
Your lantern is not a cosmetic item. It is your life. Fuel burns as you hold the beacon, darkness empowers the drowned, and the interplay between these two systems—resource scarcity and enemy scaling—creates the tension the whole game hangs on. With 100 stages across the five biomes and 12 run-shaping relics to draft after each extraction, the structure supports genuine replayability, though whether the studio can keep the routine from wearing thin through the full campaign is the open question.
When TideFall Releases
The release date is set for July 16, 2026 exclusively on PC. RootWaves is both developer and publisher, and the final product will include 100 achievement badges and daily challenge runs alongside the main campaign, with support for English, Korean and Simplified Chinese.
TideFall is built for players who want survival tension without permadeath consequences, extraction stakes without the need to hunt a squad, and a reason to fail repeatedly because failure feeds a long-term crafting loop. If you have grown tired of roguelikes that reset everything or extraction games that punish learning, this sits in a smaller space between them. Wishlist it now if the idea of a flooding timer reshaping every decision appeals to you, or hold off for early-access impressions in case the real-time pressure wears thin.
