⚙️ Details

The gameplay of Master Chess is the classic, pure strategy of chess. You control an army of 16 pieces, each with a unique way of moving, and your goal is to trap your opponent’s king in a ‘checkmate’. The key to success is strategic thinking on multiple levels. You need to know the tactics of forks and pins, the strategy of controlling the center of the board, and the foresight to plan your moves many turns in advance. This incredibly deep, cerebral challenge is a world away from the simple physics fun of Flip Bros. The game offers various modes and difficulty levels to suit every player.

▶️ How to play

Choose to play against the computer or a human opponent. On your turn, click on one of your pieces to see its possible moves, and then click on a valid square to move it there. The objective is to put the opponent’s king in a position where it is under attack (‘check’) and has no legal moves to escape (‘checkmate’).

💡 Tips and Tricks

In the opening, focus on controlling the center of the board with your pawns and developing your minor pieces (knights and bishops). Do not bring your queen out too early, as she can be easily attacked. Always make sure your king is safe; ‘castling’ is a great way to do this. Before you make a move, always ask yourself what your opponent’s best response will be.

🕹️ Controls

Use your mouse to click on your pieces and to click on the squares you want them to move to.
